Located on the northeast coast of Central Florida, ACA is nestled on 67 acres of pristine Florida palmettos and scrub oaks on the shores of one of the most biologically diverse estuaries in North America. The facility located in this stunning setting represents the interaction between nature, environment and creativity, and was founded in 1977 specifically for the purpose of nurturing artists in a supportive artistic ecosystem.
The 10-acre campus features over 15,000 square feet of studio spaces - both indoors and out. Eight artists’ studios, including dance, writing, painting, sculpture, and music studios, a black box theater, resource library, and a digital media lab make up the core of the spaces. The dining hall, administration building, and the Pabst visitor center & gallery bring artists and the public together. On-site housing includes 28 private units with a full-sized bed, private bath, work desk and small refrigerator, located a seashell’s throw away from the studios. The studio spaces, connected by boardwalks that meander through the lush vegetation, offer participants total immersion in one’s chosen form of expression. The Art Pod, and the Stine Way Art and Nature Trail depicting 20 indigenous plants and animals and two massive outdoor sculptures offer participants another way to connect and reflect with nature.
